together without using any permanent joinery or hardware to hold the shelves to
the end frames. So it "knocks-down" for easy moving and storage. Yet
it's very sturdy. The bookshelf is 47-1/2" wide x 13-1/2" deep x
36-1/2" high.
The shelves rest on dowels in the end frames. This makes the whole unit easy to
disassemble just by lifting the shelves off the end frames. The sturdiness
comes from stiffeners that are added to the back edges of the shelves. These
fit tightly between the end frames to prevent racking, and they keep the
shelves from bowing under weight.
